When you visit our practice, your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities. Our team members will treat you as our guest, spending as much time with you as you need. Some people have put off having root canal therapy because of excessive fear and dental anxiety, so we utilize Sedation Endodontics to keep our patients stress-free and relaxed during their time with us. We understand your fears and concerns and to help you gain understanding, we will tell you if you need treatment, give you details about the dental procedures we recommend, explain what to expect, and we always take extra time to answer any questions.
With sedation endodontics, we can minimize the anxiety typically associated with a dental visit. Through our advanced methods in local anesthesia, our patients enjoy a comfortable and relaxing experience.
If sedation is required during root canal procedures, you may choose Nitrous Oxide analgesia, which will put you into a relaxed state but keep you awake, or Conscious IV Sedation which will put you to sleep during the treatment.
With Nitrous Oxide, or laughing gas, we place a small mask over your nose and you will inhale oxygen first and then a mixture of oxygen and the euphoric gas. Most patients initially experience a sensation of light-headedness followed by a feeling of calm where your mind drifts and has pleasant thoughts. Throughout the procedure, you will remain completely conscious and our team will periodically adjust the flow of nitrous oxide as needed. At the end of treatment, we will introduce oxygen again and the effects of the nitrous oxide will subside rapidly.
For those individuals who have significant anxiety, severe gagging or other medical conditions that warrant being asleep during endodontic procedures, IV Sedation is available. With IV Sedation, a Board Certified Medical Anesthesiologist will come to the office to safely put you to sleep and monitor the patient throughout the root canal procedure and recovery. For those individuals who wish to be put to sleep for their procedure, a pretreatment consultation with our endodontis is required prior to setting a date for the treatment.
